Yemen, WFP discuss realizing food security
SANA'A, July 22 (Saba) - Yemen and United
Nations World Food Programme (WFP) discussed here on Wednesday the possibility of
supporting
agricultural sector in Yemen and enhancing its rule to achieve food security.
The meeting co-chaired by Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Mansour
al-Hawshabi and the WFP representative in Sana'a Gian Carlo Cirri dealt with the
assistance the
WFP could provide for Yemeni farmers.
The assistance would be devoted to face the problem of drought through setting up
future strategy to reduce its impact on the agricultural production.
It is scheduled that the WFP representative will visit a number of Yemeni provinces
in the coming week to be briefed on the problems face farmers.
