Starting pay for college grads at big firms average $24,800 this year

SEOUL, July 27 (Yonhap) -- Graduates fresh out of university receive an average
annual salary of 30.97 million won (US$24,800) at big firms this year, similar to
last year's figure, a survey showed Monday.
The survey of 289 big companies was conducted by JobKorea, a recruitment Web site.
By industry, wages for graduates employed by financial firms topped the list at
35.57 million won, followed by 34 million won paid by shipbuilding and heavy
machinery firms.
Meanwhile, 82 percent of the surveyed firms said they had no plans to cut wages
for graduates.
