Seoul stocks open lower on profit-taking

SEOUL, July 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a weak start Wednesday
as investors pocketed profits from the market's recent sharp gains, analysts
said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) slid 2.96 points, or 0.19
percent, to trade at 1,523.07 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
The weak start comes after the KOSPI rose to an 11-month high on Tuesday,
bolstered by solid second-quarter earnings and signs of a reviving economy.
The local currency was trading at 1,239.6 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 3.6 won from Tuesday's close.
