Doosan Heavy Q2 net jumps 25.3 pct on strong sales

SEOUL, July 29 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South
Korea's leading power equipment maker, said Wednesday that its second-quarter
earnings increased 25.3 percent from a year earlier mainly due to increased
sales.

Net profit reached 84 billion won (US$68 million) in the April-June period,
compared with a profit of 67 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a
regulatory filing.
Sales increased 15 percent to 1.55 trillion won, but operating income dropped 39
percent to 85 billion won, it said.
Shares of Doosan Heavy closed at 68,100 won on the Seoul bourse, up 0.15 percent.
The second-quarter earnings were released after the market closed.
