LG to launch new 'Chocolate' phone in September

SEOUL, July 30 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's LG Electronics Co. said Thursday it will
launch a new version of its "Chocolate" phone in September, aiming to revive a
worldwide sensation in the mobile handset market.

Introducing "New Chocolate," the fourth model in its premium Black Label series,
to the press on Thursday, the company said the phone will first be introduced in
Europe, followed by South Korea, Asia and South America.
The South Korean company, once widely known as a producer of home appliances,
emerged in 2006 as one of the world's leading cell phone makers with its original
"Chocolate" phone, the first of its premium phones.
The model's LCD display has a width of 10.9mm and has an 800 x 345 pixel ratio.
The phone also features a full cinematic 2.35:1 screen ratio, LG claimed.
Earlier this month, Ahn Seung-kwon, chief of the company's mobile business,
predicted that LG's newest phone in the Black Label series will compete with
Apple Inc.'s iconic iPhone.
"I believe the experience users will have with our phone will be distinct from
what they could get with the iPhone," he said.
