Yemeni manuscripts are unique wealth, says German professor

03 (Saba)- Yemeni manuscripts are unique wealth requiring study and =
concern, a German professor said
on Monday.
In his lecture at culture house in Sana'a, Wilferd Ferdinand Madelung =
said that Yemen has wonderful wealth of manuscripts which reflect high =
level of the education in Yemen
during different historical eras.
He urged relevant authorities to preserve these manuscripts through =
documentation and translation, saying that there are Yemeni manuscripts =
in libraries of Europe and America.
The lecture was organized by manuscripts sector at the ministry of =
culture.
Madelung was the Laudian Professor of Arabic at the University of =
Oxford from 1978 to 1998. He has written extensively on the early =
history of Islam, as well as on Islamic
sects.
