Educational regional meeting initiated in Yemen
SANA'A, Aug. 03 (Saba) - A Regional
Meeting for Arab Experts on Suitable Approaches for Basic Educational Performance
Quality
was kicked off here on Monday in participation of 11 Arab countries.
Opening the workshop, Minister of Education Abdul-Salam al-Jawfi said that
education is the most important issue that must be considered to realize the
Millennium Development
Goals (MDGs), that is education for all by 2015.
Al-Jawfi said Education Ministry established a specialized centre to identify and
measure the negative phenomena in the educational process, reviewing efforts the
Ministry
exerted to upgrade schools management, though population and geographical difficulties.
ICESCO representative Gassan Saleh indicated the importance of education issue,
which became an urgent one not for the concerned authorities and people but also
for the
decision makers.
He highlighted the challenges that face the Arab educational system, reviewing the
school role to improve the educational process.
Arab Experts from Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Syria, Saudi Arabia,
Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt and Yemen take part in the meeting along with
representatives
of the ICESCO and the Gulf Education Office.
The three-day meeting was organized by the UNESCO in association with the Islamic
Cultural, Educational, and Scientific Conference Organization (ICESCO) represented
by its
office in Sharjah and the Gulf Education Office.
