Seoul stocks up 0.73 pct in late morning



SEOUL, Aug. 4 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.73 percent higher late
Tuesday morning as investor sentiment was buoyed by overnight Wall Street surges,
analyst said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 11.39 points to
trade at 1,576.37 as of 11:20 a.m.
U.S. stocks registered sharp gains on Monday, pushing major indices up to the
highest point since Nov. 4, as reports on manufacturing, construction and banking
sent investors more signals that the economy is gathering strength.
The local currency was trading at 1,217.6 won versus the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., up 4.8 won from Monday's close.
