U.S. to replace F-16s with F-15Es in routine rotation

SEOUL, Aug. 5 (Yonhap) -- The U.S. Air Force said Wednesday it will replace a squadron of F-16 fighter jets in South Korea with a dozen F-15Es later this month.

The F-15Es will fly into South Korea from Mountain Home Air Base in Idaho by Aug.
20, the U.S. Seventh Air Force said in a release.
The jets will be stationed in Gunsan, 274km south of Seoul, for five months,
replacing the F-16s scheduled to be relocated out of South Korea in a routine
rotation, it said.
A group of 400 technical personnel will arrive in South Korea along with the
F-15Es, according to the release.
"The 400 soldiers and the 12 F-15E jets will help maintain stability and peace"
on the Korean Peninsula where about 28,500 U.S. troops are stationed as a
deterrent against North Korea, the release said.
