Seoul shares down 0.23 pct in late morning

SEOUL, Aug. 6 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.23 percent lower late
Thursday morning as investor sentiment was dented by overnight falls on Wall
Street, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) shed 3.59 point to
1,555.88 as of 11:20 a.m.
U.S. shares lost ground on Wednesday following a disappointing report on the
health of the service industry, which has seen 10 straight months of decline. The
Dow Jones industrial average shed 0.42 percent and the Nasdaq composite index
lost 0.91 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,222.9 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., up 1.4 won from Wednesday's close, as overseas dealers sold the greenback,
dealers said.
