Daewoo, Korea Resources buy 7.5 pct stake in Australian coal mine

SEOUL, Aug. 6 (Yonhap) -- The state-run Korea Resources Corp. said Thursday it
has signed a preliminary deal to buy a 7.5 percent stake in a coal mine in
Australia for 129 billion won (US$105.5 million) in partnership with Daewoo
International Corp.

The Narrabri coal mine, owned by Whitehaven Coal Ltd., an Australian mining
company, is located in the eastern part of the country, Korea Resources said.
The two companies will sign a formal deal at the end of this month, it said.
