Seoul stocks open higher on foreign buying
SEOUL, Aug. 7 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started slightly higher Friday,
boosted by foreign buying, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 5.42 points, or
0.35 percent, to 1,570.46 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
In early trading, foreign investors were net buyers, continuing their buying
streak for the 18th consecutive session.
The local currency was trading at 1,226.05 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., down 3.55 won from Thursday's close, as offshore investors dumped the local
currency.
