NCsoft posts over 5-fold increase in Q2 net

SEOUL, Aug. 7 (Yonhap) -- NCsoft Corp., South Korea's leading online game
company, said Friday that its second-quarter earnings rose more than five-fold
on-year largely due to strong overseas sales.

Net income amounted to 33.5 billion won (US$27.3 million) in the April-June
period, up 451 percent from 6.1 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a
regulatory filing.
Sales increased 70 percent on-year to 137.8 billion won, with operating profit
soaring 353 percent to 47.5 billion won, it added.
The company attributed the surge in the bottom line to increased revenue from its
game business in China. NCsoft put its most recent blockbuster "Aion" on the
Chinese market during the quarter.
NCSoft offered an upbeat outlook for the third quarter, saying that it will also
launch "Aion" in North America and Europe next month.
