IPL Governing Council meeting on Aug 11
Mumbai, Aug 8 (PTI) Lalit Modi is back in India after
four months and would be chairing the Indian Premier League
Governing Council meeting in Mumbai on August 11.
"There are 28,000 items on the agenda of the meeting,"
said Modi in a lighter vein when reporters buttonholed him at
a function in which the book 'Shadows Across The Playing
Field' was jointly unveiled by Sachin Tendulkar and Mukesh
Ambani here last evening.
The book, elaborating 60 years of India-Pakistan cricket
history, has been jointly penned by Indian Minister of State
for External Affairs, Shashi Tharoor, and former Pakistan
Cricket Board chairman and diplomat Shaharyar Khan.
Though Modi did not reveal it, one of the main items on
the agenda of the meeting is about the inclusion of former
Indian Cricket League players for the third edition of IPL
to be held in March-April, 2010.
"They are going to take a decision on ICL players next
week," a source connected with one of the franchise outfits
told PTI.
The Board, while admitting ICL players and others after
they severed their ties with the rebel league before May 31 as
a one-time amnesty scheme, had said that a decision whether to
allow these players into IPL 3 will be taken later.
Some of the ICL-linked players have already been included
in teams selected by their respective state units affiliated
to the Cricket Board in domestic tournaments following their
return to the official cricket fold. PTI SSR
