Former Karna HC Chief Justice viewed CDs on narco tests: CBI
Kochi, Aug 10 (PTI) The Central Bureau of Investigation
(CBI) on Monday informed the Kerala High Court that a former
Karnataka High Court Chief Justice had visited the Forensic
Science Laboratory (FSL) in Bangalore on May 23 last year and
viewed CDs of narco-analysis tests carried out on three
accused in the sister Abhaya murder case.
The investigating agency said the former FSL Assistant
Director, Dr S Malini, stated this in a statement to it, in
which she further claimed the former Chief Justice had also
viewed narco test being done on an accused in a SIMI case.
The services of Dr Malini was appreciated by the judge,
the CBI informed the court.
Special Prosecutor S Sreekumar submitted the CBI
statements during hearing of a contempt petition by M Thomas,
sister Abhaya's father, before a Division Bench, comprising
Justice R Balakrishnan Nair and Justice C K Ravi Kumar.
The Bench then directed the CBI to file an affidavit by
August 18.
The body of Abhaya, an inmate of St Pius Convent at
Kottayam was found in the well of the convent in March 1992.
CBI, which is investigating the case, filed chargesheets
against Father Thomas Kottoor, Father Jose Puthrikayil and
Sister Sephy in connection with the case last month. PTI COR
