President Lee meets with incoming head of Korea Society
SEOUL, Aug. 11 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak Tuesday met with
leaders of a private U.S. organization dedicated to the strengthening of the
Korea-U.S. alliance, including its incoming chairman Thomas Hubbard, a former
U.S. ambassador to Seoul.
"President Lee noted the Korea Society's efforts to help improve the relationship
between South Korea and the United States and he also expressed gratitude to
Donald Gregg for his leadership at the Korea Society over the past 16 years," the
presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said of the meeting.
The president also asked the incoming head of the U.S. organization to continue
efforts to promote the mutual interests of both countries, it said in a press
release.
Hubbard, ambassador to South Korea from 2001 to 2004, takes leadership of the
organization next month.
