Season of catching shrimp, squid announced in Yemen
SANA'A, Aug.11(Saba) - Ministry
of Fisheries announced on Tuesday opening the season of catching shrimp and squid in
the
Yemeni territorial waters in the Red Sea from August 15th until further notice.
The ministry made it clear that its decision issued on Tuesday, Saba got a copy of
it, that shrimp and squid are available in all the Red Sea area after they have
witnessed
a proliferation period during the season's closing time.
" All fishermen can go to the sea starting from next Saturday for fishing shrimp
and squid in all area of the Red Sea", the ministry said.
Furthermore, statistics issued by the ministry showed that Yemen exported about
7,393 tons of squid worth $14.786 million during the first half of 2009, while its
exports
from shrimp amounted to 65 tons worth $519,000 in the same period.
Those quantities were exported to 40 Arab, Asian and European countries,according
to the statistics.
