ICC panel to discuss Indian players' concerns on Sep 5, 6

Dubai, Aug 13 (PTI) The International Cricket Council
(ICC)'s special panel, formed to resolve the contentious World
Anti-doping Agency (WADA) clause which has been rejected by
India's top cricketers, will have its first meeting on
September 5 and 6.

The panel, which includes India's former Test captain
Anil Kumble, will discuss the cricketers' concerns about the
'whereabout' clause, which they have refused to sign citing
security risk and breach of privacy.

"Confirming the scope of the group and a date for the
meeting represents a successful start and we can now get on
with addressing the outstanding practical issues of the Indian
players," International Cricket Council Chief Executive Haroon
Lorgat in a statement after a tele-conference among the panel
members Wednesday evening.

"All sides are committed to a zero tolerance approach to
the issue of anti-doping and there was a spirit of cooperation
on the call that augurs well for next month's meeting," he
added.

WADA Director General David Howman also took part in the

tele-conference, in an independent advisory capacity, among
other members of the panel Wednesday evening.

The panel -- International Registered Testing Pool (IRTP)
Working Group -- chaired by Tim Kerr QC, also includes Board
of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Honorary Secretary N
Srinivasan, ICC Principal Advisory Inderjit Singh Bindra and
Lorgat.

It was also decided that WADA will make an official
available, either in person or by telephone, during next
month's group meeting.

The group also confirmed its terms of reference to
address the BCCI's specific objections to the ICC Anti-Doping
Code's 'whereabouts' requirements so that India players can
otain the necessary comfort to meet their requirements under
the code as quickly as possible. PTI SKI
