S. Korean, Kazakh ruling parties sign MOU on closer cooperation

SEOUL, Aug.13 (Yonhap)-- South Korea's ruling Grand National Party (GNP) said
Thursday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with its Kazakh
counterpart, Nur Otan, on expanding bilateral cooperation and exchanges.
Under the MOU signed by GNP floor leader Ahn Sang-soo and his Nur Otan
counterpart in Kazakhstan, the two parties agreed to expand cooperation on global
issues, jointly host expert forums and exchange visits by lawmakers from the two
parties, GNP officials said.
The latest agreement marks the GNP's first-ever MOU with a foreign political
body, they said, adding the party is seeking to seal similar deals with its
counterparts in China and other countries around the world.
