Two live pipe bombs recovered

Coimbatore, Aug 14 (PTI) Two live pipe bombs were
found in a garbage bin in Tirupur near here in India's
southern state of Tamil Nadu, triggering panic in the area.

Some children playing near the garbage bin saw some
wires popping out of the box and informed their parents, who
in turn informed the police Thursday.

Police rushed to the spot and found it to be pipe
bombs. While one pipe contained two electric detonators, the
other contained non-electric detonators connected to gelatine
sticks.

Bomb detection and disposal squad rushed to the spot
and defused them, police said, adding the bombs could have
caused destruction in a radius of 40 feet if they had
exploded.

Police have picked up a youth for questioning in this
