Bihar on alert, high security along Indo-Nepal border

Patna, Aug 14 (PTI) A high-alert has been sounded in
India's eastern state of Bihar and security measures have been
beefed up along the porous Indo-Nepal border in the state
following Maoists' call to boycott Independence day
celebrations Saturday.

"The state has been put on high alert and the security
along the porous Indo-Nepal border has been increased to
ensure peaceful and trouble-free celebrations tomorrow," ADGP
(headquarters) Neelmani said here Friday.

The Sashatra Seema Bal and other paramilitary forces
along with state police personnel would ensure patrolling on
the border areas to stop Maoists and other trouble-makers from
sneaking into the state from the neighbouring country, he
said.

Security has also been tightened at all vital
installations and public places including bus terminus,
railway stations and airports, the police official said.

Besides, special security attention would be paid to
railway tracks, considered soft-target of Naxalites, he added.

The main Independence Day function in the state would be
held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. PTI AJK
