Seoul stocks start weaker on recovery jitters


SEOUL, Aug. 18 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks opened lower Tuesday as investors
became skeptical of a quick recovery in the global economy, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stocks Price Index (KOSPI) declined 5.55 points, or
0.36 percent, to 1,541.51 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
The local currency was trading at 1,263.35 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15
a.m., down 6.45 won from Monday's close.
