Advani takes dig at PM Manmohan Singh
Shimla, Aug 18 (PTI) Leader of Opposition in the
Parliament L K Advani Tuesday had a dig at India Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh for his warning about terror attacks
from Pakistan, saying he had realised that the country's
unhappiness with the Indo-Pak joint statement was "correct".
"Manmohan Singh had accepted the Indo-Pak joint statement
and strongly defended it inside and outside Parliament," the
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader told reporters here when
asked to comment on the Prime Minister's warning that the
nation faced terror threat from Pakistan.
Referring to Singh's statement at the Chief Minister's
conference Monday and the position he had taken after the
joint statement, Advani asked "how can there be similarity?"
He said he was "happy that he (Singh) has realised that
the country's unhappiness with the joint statement was
correct. That is why he has warned the country about threat of
terror attack."
The joint statement issued after Singh's meeting with
Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in Sharm-el Sheikh
in Egypt last month had spoken about delinking of dialogue
from action against terrorism by Pakistan.
The joint statement had come under all-round attack but
Singh strongly defended it. PTI
