India should share information on terror threats: Pakistan

Islamabad, Aug 19 (PTI) Pakistan Wednesday said India

should avoid levelling "strange" allegations about terror
threats and instead share credible information with it so that
effective action can be taken against terrorists.

Referring to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's remarks
about credible information that Pakistan-based terror groups
are planning fresh attacks on India, Foreign Minister Shah
Mahmood Qureshi urged New Delhi to share such information
with Islamabad.

He said he was surprised to hear the Indian premier's
comments and took serious notice of them.

"Terrorism is a regional and global issue and Pakistan
wants to cooperate with India to end this menace. This kind of
allegation by the Indian side in the current environment is
quite strange," he told a TV news channel.

Replying to a question, Qureshi said, "We have not
received any concrete response from India yet so that we can
take solid steps in this connection."

He said Pakistan realises that "perhaps there could be
immense pressure on the Indian leadership due to the country's
internal situation" and this can be the result of domestic
politics. Pakistan's attitude remained "quite responsible", he
added.

Qureshi said diplomatic channels should be used instead
of raising issues in the media. "When you talk in the media,
it vitiates the environment and Pakistan does not want it to
happen," he said. PTI RHL
