Lee instructs greater preparations for successful rocket launch

SEOUL, Aug. 19 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak instructed the Cabinet
Wednesday to use the last-minute cancellation of the launch of the nation's first
space rocket as an opportunity to attain success later.

Earlier Wednesday, South Korea suspended the launch of the Korea Space Launch
Vehicle-1 carrying a science and technology satellite, just eight minutes before
the scheduled blastoff due to a technical glitch.
"The government should turn the suspension of rocket launch into an opportunity
to achieve an eventual launch success," Lee was quoted by his spokesman as
telling Education and Science Minister Ahn Byung-man by phone.
"(Suspension of a rocket launch) is common in foreign countries. It is rather
fortunate to discover problems before a liftoff," presidential spokesman Lee
Dong-kwan quoted the president as saying after watching the aborted launch on a
live television broadcast.
