Shamlan discusses wave walls construction

SANA'A, Aug.19 (Saba)- Minister of
Fisheries Mohammed Shamlan discussed here on Wednesday with the British Wallingford
Company's
General Director the implementation of the consulting works and engineering designs
for building fixed and pontoon waves walls and quays at a total coast of YR300
million.

The British company's director made it clear that the execution ratio amounted to
33 percent at the end of last July, indicating that the company is currently
finalizing
studies on the negative impacts resulting from setting up the coastal constructions
in areas of the Red Sea, Arab Sea and Aden Gulf.
For his part, Shamlan affirmed the necessity of finalizing the studies on time,
pointing to the project's importance in enhancing the infrastructure of the fish
sector in
the different governorates.
Ministry of Fisheries signed in last April a contract with the British company for
executing the consulting works and engineering designs to build 14 fixed and
pontoon wave
walls and fish unloading quays in the mentioned areas with finance from World Bank.
