Pak HC meet FS; India provides more info on Mumbai attacks

New Delhi, Aug 22 (PTI) India Friday handed over a
fresh dossier to Pakistan seeking the prosecution of Jamaat-ud
Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, a prime accused in the 26/11
attacks, saying there was "cogent and convincing evidence" to
prosecute him.

The additional information conveyed by the Indian Home
Ministry to the External Affairs Ministry was given during a
meeting here between India Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao and
Pakistan High Commissioner Shahid Malik, sources said.

The Home ministry said "reading of the material before
the trial court in Mumbai leads to the conclusion that there
is cogent and convincing evidence pointing to the role of
Saeed".

This warranted further investigation and evidence on
record should certainly lead to prosecution of Saeed, the
ministry sources said.

While India has been maintaining that it has given
enough proof to Pakistan to implicate Saeed, Pakistan has
been claiming that it cannot take action against him on the
basis of information provided so far.

New Delhi has so far given four dossiers to Islamabad
providing inputs on the terror suspects and logistics
including communication used by those involved in carrying out
the attacks in Mumbai. They also contained responses to many
queries raised by Pakistan relating to lone surviving
terrorist Ajmal Kasab and others. PTI ACB
