Yemen, FAO tackle drought effects on agriculture

SANA'A, Aug. 23 (Saba) - Minister
of Agriculture and Irrigation Mansour al-Howshabi discussed Sunday with a FAO
delegation
Yemen's efforts to face the effects of drought on agricultural production.

The
meeting also dealt with necessary needs to face drought through establishing a
database on
rainfall, planted land, crops affected by drought and what drought causes to the
animal wealth. The two sides, furthermore, discussed the possibility of preparing a
national
strategy that would contribute to supporting the agricultural sector in Yemen and
enhancing its role in the food security amid environmental changes, first and
foremost dehydration.
