Seoul, Beijing to hold consular talks

SEOUL, Aug. 24 (Yonhap) -- South Korean and Chinese foreign ministry officials are scheduled to meet later this week to discuss ways to cooperate on bilateral immigration control and other consular affairs, Seoul officials said Monday.

Key consular affairs officials from both countries plan to meet Thursday in Seoul
to discuss a range of issues, including ways to simplify immigration control at
airports and ports, protection of citizens in each other's countries and
implementing stricter control of illegal immigrants, South Korea's foreign
ministry said.
Lee Key-cheol, deputy director-general of the foreign ministry's Overseas Koreans
and Consular Affairs Bureau, will head the Seoul delegation and Qiu Xuejun,
deputy director-general of the Chinese foreign ministry's consular department,
will lead the Chinese delegation.
