Seoul shares open lower on profit-taking

SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a weak start Tuesday as
investors took profits from the previous session's sharp gains, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) declined 5.33 points, or
0.33 percent, to 1,606.89 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
The KOSPI hit a 13-month high on Monday as investors snapped up tech, automaker
and financial shares on growing optimism for an economic recovery.
The local currency was trading at 1,244.8 won to the U.S. dollar as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 4.9 won from Monday's close.
