LG Display asked to clarify report on China plant

SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's bourse operator Tuesday called on LG
Display Co. to respond to a media report that it plans to set up a large liquid
crystal display (LCD) plant in China.
The vernacular Maeil Business Newspaper reported Tuesday that LG Display signed a
preliminary deal with the government of Guangzhou, China, to build an
8th-generation panel plant at a cost of some 5 trillion won ($4 billion).
The Korea Exchange said that LG Display, the world's second-largest display
maker, will be required to disclose its position on the report by 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Shares of LG Display were trading at 35,450 won as of 9:25 a.m., up 0.28 percent
from the previous session.
