Former president Roh`s aide draws six-year jail term for bribery

SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Yonhap) -- A close aide of former President Roh Moo-hyun on
Tuesday was sentenced to a six-year prison term for receiving bribes from one of
the late Roh's financial supporters.
The Seoul Central District Court also fined Jung Sang-moon, former presidential
secretary for administrative affairs during Roh's presidency of 2003-2008, 1.64
billion won (US$1.3 million) for accepting some 400 million won in bribes from
former chairman of shoemaker Taekwang Industry Park Yeon-cha. Park himself has
been put under arrest for embezzlement and tax evasion.
Jung was also accused of embezzling 1.25 billion won from the coffers of the
presidential office Cheong Wa Dae.
Prosecutors demanded a seven-year prison term and a fine of 1.64 billion.
Roh took his own life in May after being questioned by prosecutors on suspicion
of receiving billions of won from Park.
