Seoul shares down 0.5 pct in late morning

SEOUL, Aug. 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.5 percent lower late Thursday morning as investors unloaded exporters and financial shares, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) declined 8.01 points to
1,606.11 as of 11:20 a.m.
The KOSPI hit a 13-month high on Monday as investors snapped up tech, automaker
and financial shares on growing optimism for an economic recovery. Market leader
Samsung Electronics shed 1.5 percent and No. 3 financial services firm Shinhan
Financial Group lost 2.47 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,248.5 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., down 3.2 won from Wednesday's close.
