BJP should put house in order: RSS

New Delhi, Aug 28 (PTI) Sending out a clear message to
crisis-ridden Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rashtriya Seva
Sangh (RSS) Friday asked it to put its house in order by
working unitedly and expressed confidence that the party will
"rise from the ashes".

In a rare press conference held here amidst rumblings in
BJP, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat made it clear that the Sangh
founthead would "help and advise" if sought but will not
interfere in the party's affairs.

Bhagwat rejected BJP leader Arun Shourie's suggestion
that RSS should take over the reins of the party and insisted
that BJP itself will have to decide on its matters, including
leadership issue and whether L K Advani should go or stay.

He said he had told BJP President Rajnath Singh, who met
him here last night to discuss the developments, that the
party leaders should "work unitedly" and "move forward".

A number of other BJP leaders, including Sushma Swaraj,
Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Naidu and Ananth Kumar, also met
Bhagwat today to discuss the problems afflicting the party.

"Whatever is happening (in BJP) is not good," said
Bhagwat, who faced a volley of questions on BJP's squabbles.

"(Lok Sabha) poll results have given a jolt, severe jolt
to BJP. They will have to regain balance," he said, adding "I
feel they will be able to do it.... BJP will emerge from the
crisis."

He said there were "systems" and "procedures" in place
in BJP which could be invoked to address its problems.

Replying to a question, the RSS chief said "BJP will not
perish. It will rise from ashes." (MORE) PTI NAB
