PRESIDENT-ELECT STILL FORMULATING STRATEGIES, PLANS
Jakarta, Aug 29 (ANTARA) - President-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said here on Saturday that he was currently still formulating strategies and steps for the next five years with vice president-elect Boediono.
"They must be finished before October 1. Only after that will he summon the best people of the nation to join in the next administration," he said in his speech at a fast breaking gathering at the residence of House Speaker Agung Laksono.
He attended the meeting with the House of Representatives leadership in his capacity as a president.
Yudhoyono admitted that he had so far learned the names that had emerged in the mass media considered fit for sitting in the cabinet.
"They are all good. I calculate the number reaches one hundred," he said.
He said it would indeed be quite difficult to choose tens among them.
Yudhoyono said besides formulating action plans for the next administration he was also studying the present cabinet structure to see its effectiveness.
"I think the President has an authority according to the law to form an effective cabinet. In view of that I could assure that all ministries would have effective and focused functions," he said.
He wished in the future no problem could not be handled by any ministry. However he also reminded against the handling of one problem by several ministries.
Besides planning for the next five years Yudhoyono said as a head of state he was now still focussing on finishing his term until October 20.
Yudhoyono won his re-election in the race on July 8. ***
