PRESIDENT CALLS ON DPR TO WORK UNTIL END OF TERM
Jakarta, Aug 29 (ANTARA0 - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appealed to all members of the House of Representatives (DPR) here on Saturday to continue to work until the end of their term on October 20.
He made the appeal during a fast breaking gathering with DPR leadership at the residence of DPR Speaker Agung Laksono.
"We are still on duty to together complete the term for two months more" he said.
The head of state hoped the parliament together with the government could carry out the remaining agenda until the end of the term.
Agung Laksono meanwhile said on the occasion that he was optimistic the bill on corruption court could be passed in September 2009.
He said only few issues still had to be settled with regard to the bill such as the composition of ad hoc judges and court locations.
"We, the DPR and the government, have already agreed to settle them according to schedule. God willing it will be finished," he said.
The House of Representatives would have new members following the legislative elections in April.***
