Yemen Summons Iran Envoy

SANA'A, Aug. 31 (Saba) - Yemen has called the Iranian
ambassador to to protest against Iran's support for the Houthi rebels in northern
parts of the
republic. Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi told the Iranian envoy if Iran
continues to support the rebels in Saada this may force Yemen to take 'serious
diplomatic decisions'
over the Yemeni-Iranian ties. Iran's attitude toward the crisis in the north could
harm the Yemeni-Iranian ties, Al-Qibri said, warning the Iranian media against
adopting
the Houthi attitudes and propagating their lies. In an interview with the Al-Methaq
newspaper, the minister affirmed they called Iran's ambassador in Sana'a and
informed
him of Yemen's protest against their position over the crisis in the north. The
Ministry of Foreign also contacted Iran's Foreign Ministry over the matter. On the
other hand,
Al-Qirbi said calls for the war-displaced people were normal in an effort to save
the innocent civilians. The government is working together with international relief
organizations
to provide aid materials for the displaced. He justified the current offensive
saying the Yemeni government has many times called and already stopped war, but in
every time
offensives were prompted by rebel violence and lawbreaking. The government took
military action after it realized the Houthi followers don't accept peace and insist
on destruction.
