S. Korea's consumer prices rise 2.2 pct in Aug.: gov't report
SEOUL, Sept. 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's consumer prices grew at the fastest pace in three months in August as prices in the service sector increased, a report showed Tuesday.
According to the report by the National Statistical Office, the consumer price
index rose 2.2 percent last month from a year earlier, accelerating from a 1.6
percent on-year advance the previous month. It was the fastest annual growth
since June when prices rose by 2 percent.
From a month ago, prices rose 0.4 percent, marking a second straight month of
advance. Core inflation, excluding volatile oil and food prices, jumped 3.1
percent last month, falling down from the previous month's 3.2 percent rise, the
report showed.
