S. Korean president invites Argentine leader to visit Seoul

SEOUL, Sept. 1 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak on Tuesday invited his Argentine counterpart to visit Seoul, hoping for friendlier ties with the South American nation.

"I hope to meet with the Argentine president at the G-20 Economic Summit in
Pittsburgh in September," Lee said in a meeting with Argentina's visiting foreign
minister Jorge Taiana.
"I wish that President Cristina Fernandez will visit us when possible and that I
will also be able to visit Argentina," Lee said.
Argentina is one of three South American countries taking part in the G-20
summit, along with Brazil and Mexico. Seoul assumes the chairmanship of the
20-nation forum at the beginning of next year.
