S. Korea's finance minster to leave for G20 meeting in London

SEOUL, Sept. 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's finance minister will meet with his
counterparts and central bankers of the world's 20 advanced and emerging
countries this week to discuss cooperation in coping with changing global
economic conditions, Seoul officials said Wednesday.
Finance Minister Yoon Jeung-hyun will leave on Thursday for the two-day gathering
to be held later this week in London, according to the Ministry of Strategy and
Finance. The meeting will kick off on Friday with leading economic and monetary
policymakers scheduled to hold bilateral talks.
The meeting will provide a chance for participants to review recent economic
conditions and discuss ways to increase cooperation on fiscal and monetary
policies, the ministry said.
They will exchange opinions on how to strengthen growth potential dented by the
latest economic crisis and how to boost post-crisis economic growth, it added.
Yoon will also use the event as a chance to enlist support for South Korea's
hosting of the G20 summit talks scheduled to be held in April next year, the
ministry said. The venue will be determined in a gathering in Pittsburgh later
this month.
