S. Korea 49th in FIFA world rankings


SEOUL, Sept. 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korea fell one notch to 49th in the FIFA world
rankings in September, although the country earned 15 more points than the
previous month.
South Korea had 641 points, but its standing slipped from 48th in August,
according to the monthly rankings released Wednesday by the world soccer
governing body.
Australia, which will play a friendly against South Korea in Seoul Saturday, was
14th and remained the region's highest-ranked team. Japan moved down one place to
40th.
North Korea dropped four notches to 90th.
Brazil stayed atop of the FIFA world rankings with 1,604 points, trailed by Spain
and the Netherlands. Italy and Germany shared the fourth place.
