SPORTS: GOVT SUPPORTS INDONESIA TO HOST ISG
Jakarta, Sept 2 (ANTARA) - General Chairwoman of the Indonesian Sports National Committee Rita Subowo said the sports community in Indonesia was very happy to learn that the Indonesian Olympics Committee (KOI) gets the government support when Indonesia had been appointed to host the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) in 2013.
The Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on September 1 was also attended by KOI secretary general Arie Ariotedjo, and Sports Minister Adhyaksa Dault, which bolstered the government support that Indonesia was ready to host the ISG in 2013, General Chairperson of KONI/KOI Rita Subowo said here Wednesday.
Hosting the ISG would be an attempt to improve the performances of athletes in the Asian forum.
Speaking of the delay of the holding of the ISG from October 15-29 to April 2010 in Iran, Rita said it was up to the ISSF meeting.
Actually there is no problem in the postponement of the ISG, because it had been announced as early as possible before the participants started preparing their athletes.
Unlike the postponement of the Asian Martial Arts Games (AMAG) in Thailand, Indonesia had also trained its athletes at the national traning center. The postponement affected the condition of the athletes who had been prepared to do their best.
