Pak anti-terror court refuses bail to Mumbai attack suspect

Islamabad, Sep 2 (PTI) A Pakistani anti-terrorism court
Wednesday dismissed the bail petition of a Lashker-e-Taiba-
linked suspect arrested in connection with the Mumbai attacks
and said he would be tried along with five other LeT
operatives.

Judge Baqir Ali Rana of the anti-terrorism court in
Rawalpindi dismissed the bail petition of Jamil Ahmed, who was
arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency early last month
on charges of facilitating the Mumbai attacks.

The judge gave his ruling after hearing arguments by
Special Public Prosecutor Rab Nawaz Noon and Ahmed's counsel
Ilyas Siddique.

Ahmed will be tried with five LeT operatives -- including
operations commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and communications
expert Zarar Shah -- for alleged involvement in the Mumbai
attacks in the same court.

The next hearing of the case against these five suspects
is scheduled for September 5. At the last hearing on August
29, another suspect named Younus Anjum arrested by the FIA was
remanded to police custody for 10 days. PTI RHL
