Yemen hosts 3rd regional migration center

SANA'A, Sep. 02 (Saba) - The Sana'a university opened on Wednesday a regional center for migration and refugee studies to be the third specialized center in the Arab World.

President of the university Khalid Tomaim said the UNHCR had chosen Yemen to be the
third Arab state after Egypt and Jordan to host the center.
An introduction symposium on the center was held on the margin of inauguration in
which work papers by the UNHCR on new refugees in Yemen and Yemen as a transit were
presented.
Yemen receives African refugees, mostly from the Horn of Africa states, almost daily.
It says there more than 700.000 refugees as it calls for further support to help
cope with the increasing number of Africans fleeing poverty and conflicts in their
countries.
