UN calls on collecting $ 23.5 million for Saada war affected people

(Saba) - The Untied Nation has called for collect $23.5 million to help over 150,000
Internally
Displaced People (IDP) affected by war in Saada governorate, north Yemen, the weekly
26 September reported on Thursday.
"The emergency aid will provide food and shelter to over 150,000 people, who have
been displaced by recent fighting in the north", the UN's Under-Secretary-General
for Humanitarian
Affairs John Holmes said in a press conference held in Geneva Wednesday.
The UN has agreed to establish about 38 aid projects, according to Holmsm, who adds
that the call will assist us to provide the IDP with urgently needed food, shelter,
health
supplies and safe water.
Holmes has said that Yemeni government had suggested cease-fire in war area of
Saada governorate but it was rejected by the rebels.
"Holmes added that UN didn't start any kind of negotiations with al-Houthi rebels,
warned over the humanitarian situation in Saada.
It is estimated that there are about 150,000 IDP in northern Yemen, including
95,000 people affected by previous fighting and some 55,000 affected by more
intense combat
over the past two months.
