NUMBER OF FOREIGN TOURIST VISITING BALI UP 12.26 PERCENT
Denpasar, Indonesia, Sept 4 (ANTARA) - As many as 1,304,359 foreign tourists visited Bali during the January-July 2009 period, according to the local statistics office.
The figure represented an increase of 142,444 tourists or about 12.26 percent compared to the same period last year's 1,161,916 people, chief of the Bali`s Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Ida Komang Wisnu, said here on Friday.
Ida Komang Wisnu said the number of tourists visiting Bali in July 2009 reached 235,198 people or an increase of 17.27 percent compared to last month's. The July 2009 data also reflected an increase of 23.23 percent compared to the same period in year 2008.
Most of the tourists, he said, arrived in Bali through the international airport Ngurah Rai by straight flights their countries.
"Only 3.543 foreign tourists came to Bali by sea," Ida Komang said.
Among the ten countries contributing the highest number of foreign tourists to Bali, he said, six underwent a significant rise in number, while the other four countries are declining.
The six countries whose tourists to Bali had been increasing are Australia with 36.98 percent, China 61.07 percent, France 50.68 percent, Malaysia 21.74 percent, England 9.10 percent, and Germany 0.92 percent.
Meanwhile, the other four countries whose number of tourist had been declining are Japan 10.77 percent, South Korea 6.06 percent, Taiwan 18.45 percent and the United States 0.63 percent.***
