LD SUCCESSION 2
In significant remarks , Rosaiah said there was unity in
Congress in Andhra Pradesh which stood solidly behind Sonia
Gandhi and that was the reason "we were able to get 33
Parliament members elected from this state".
Apparently not not very happy with the way the camp of
37-year-old Jaganmohan, a first time MP, was moving, some
senior leaders voiced contrary views.
V Hanumantha Rao, a Rajya Sabha member, played the
'backward card' saying the chief ministership should go to
someone from the backward classes, though he had no objection
if Jagan was the unanimous choice.
Another leader K Keshava Rao, also a Rajya Sabha member
and AICC Secretary said nobody come out in the open say that
"so and so" will be the chief minister. The party high command
will decide, he added.
The Congress high command's reluctance to get into the
succession issue right now now did not not deter MLAs, who
trickled into the city after the burial of YSR's body in
Idupulapaya in Kadapa yesterday evening, MLAs from pursuing
their campaign in the morning.
MLAs Prasad Raju of Narasapur in West Godavari district,
N Seshu Reddy of Anakapalle and Tota Narasimha of Jagampet,
both from East Godavari district, reached the Legislature
Party office here and told reporters that Jagan Mohan "right
choice" for the chief minister's post. (More) PTI
