No open campaign for CM till mourning: Cong high command

Hyderabad, Sept 5 (PTI) The Congress high command
Saturday stepped in to prevent an open campaign for
installation of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as the next chief
minister of Andhra Pradesh although MLAs loyal to him
continued their drive.

A day after Rajasekhara Reddy's funeral, Union Law
Minister and Congress in charge for Andhra Pradesh M Veerappa
Moily, is believed to have asked Jagan loyalist Mallu Batti
Vikramarka, ruling party's chief whip in the Assembly, not not
conduct any campaign this the week-long mourning is over. He
was counselled not to convene any meetings before that period.

It is understood that the leadership was not not too
impressed with such open jockeying, which even before YSR's
body reached Hyderabad on Thursday.

A meeting of Congress MLAs in the evening as part of the
campaign planned by Vikramarka was given up.

Moily said the party was not not going to apply its mind
on the issue of succession till the mourning period is over.

"We are not not going to do it (choice of new CM) during
the mourning period. Let the mourning period be over. Then we
will apply our mind. Till that time we are not going to apply
our mind on the successor," he told reporters
here. (More) PTI
