MILY CHIEF: KEEP WATCH AGAINST TERRORISM THREAT

Palu, C Sulawesi, Sept 6 (ANTARA) - Indonesian Military (TNI) Chief General Djoko Santoso on Sunday asked the people to keep watch out for any form of terrorism threat.

"It is very obvious terrorism acts run counter to religious teachings. It is an act of the devil we must fight seriously by involving all parties," he said on the sidelines of his Ramadhan safari in Palu, Central Sulawesi.

Terrorism acts still posed a threat to the people's safety, security and welfare, he told the ranks and files of the Central Sulawesi provincial government and TNI members.

"Therefore, people from all walks of life must always step up their vigilance against any form of terrorism threat," he said.

The TNI was adopting three patterns, namely early detection, prevention and action in handling terrorism, he said.

In detecting and preventing terrorism as early as possible, the TNI was cooperating with all components of the nation including regional governments, he said.

In taking action against terrorism, the TNI had set up anti-terror units such as the terror control unit 88 of the Army's special elite force (Koppasus), the Jalamangkara detachment of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), and the Bravo-90 detachment of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AL), he said.

"In addition, the TNI also has an anti-terror unit at each of district military commands. But in taking action on terrorism the TNI will work only upon the request of the Indonesian police. The TNI will also act according to the type of terrorism threat," he said.***4***
