FOURTH MER-C TEAM LEAVES FOR QUAKE-HIT REGIONS
Bogor, Indoensia, Sept 7 (ANTARA) - The fourth team of the health volunteers organization Indonesian Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) will leave Jakarta for Pengalengan village, Bandung district, Monday night to help tackle the health problems of earthquake victims.
"Volunteers in the fourth teams will go to help victims, following the three previous teams which until now are still in the field," chairman of the MER-C Indonesia presidium, Dr. Abdul Murad Sarbini told Antara here on Monday.
The magnitude-7.3 earthquake that hit parts of West Java has left 73 people dead, 34 others missing, and hundreds of others injured.
He said further that until now the second team moved to the Cisurili hamlet of Pengalengan village while on Sunday (Sept.6) the team carried out health services in three hamlets of the Pengalengan village.
The team will also move into the areas of Margamulya, Kertasari, Mekarsari, Cijambu, and Ciwidey.
Previously, the first team who served in the Parumasan village,
Sodonghilir sub-district, Tasikmalaya district has handled 320 patients.
Meanwhile, third team from the MER-C of Yogyakarta branch also joined the first team to Tasikmalaya, Sarbini said.
According to him, the large scale of disasters, made MER-C again sent an additional volunteer personnel to Tasikmalaya region.
